The **PIN** is a 4 to 8-digit code that locks your device from physical tampering. You enter it directly on the Ledger device itself.

To access your portfolio in Ledger Live, you simply **connect your device** and **enter your PIN on the device**. Ledger Live then securely communicates with the unlocked device to display your accounts.
To move crypto, you must physically approve the transaction on the Ledger device screen. This is the **final and most secure login confirmation** you perform.
You can set a local password within the Ledger Live application to protect its interface from being viewed by others on your computer. **This password is not your device PIN or your security key.**
